How Umbrella Companies Work

Umbrella companies work by engaging freelance workers and employing them on the same basis as any other business employs staff.

This means as an employee you would be provided with a Contract of Employment, providing full employment rights and statutory protection. At the outset of your employment  an expectation is agreed that you will have a series of assignments at different locations and on this basis you should be able to benefit from any travelling and subsistence costs associated with carrying out work at your temporary workplace,

The Sprite Umbrella company is a compliant, cost-effective and reliable way for freelance workers to to work.  The process works as follows:

• You become an employee of Sprite
• We provide you with full employment rights through an overarching contract of employment
• You are covered by our comprehensive insurance policies.  (Please click for further information about our insurances)
• The expectation is that you will remain an employee of Sprite and work on successive assignments with us
• We take full responsibility for, PAYE, National Insurance payments, VAT.
• Sprite agree and enter into contracts for your services and we take responsibility for all contractual matters
